Summary
Illinois Medicaid updated reimbursable HCPCS codes for renal dialysis injectable drugs, adding three new codes (J2501, J2916, J0636) effective January 1, 2003, and discontinuing five codes (J0635, J2500, J2915, J1755, W0237) effective October 1, 2003. Providers must use revenue code 636 and proper HCPCS coding on UB-92 forms.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must stop using obsolete HCPCS codes J0635, J2500, J2915, J1755, and W0237 for renal dialysis injectable drugs. Update billing system to use only approved codes J2501, J2916, J0636 with revenue code 636 on UB-92 forms. Update Handbook for Hospitals by replacing Appendix H-18 page dated July 2002 with September 2003 version. Claims using obsolete codes will not be reimbursed.
