Summary
The Illinois Department of Public Aid has updated Chapter 300 of their Handbook for Electronic Processing with revised guidelines for EDI transactions, claim submissions, and electronic processing procedures. All enrolled providers must replace their August/April 2003 handbook pages with the new September 2003 versions covering institutional claims (837I), professional claims (837P), payment advice (835), and claim status requests (276/277).

Immediately: Billing team must obtain updated Chapter 300 handbook pages from the Illinois HFS website or request printed copies by mail/fax. Replace all outdated August 2003 and April 2003 pages with September 2003 versions for Topics 300-306 and Appendices 1, 2, 5, and 6. Review updated EDI processing requirements for 837 institutional/professional claims, 835 payment advice, and 276/277 claim status procedures to ensure compliance with current Illinois Medicaid electronic processing standards.
