Summary
State-generated procedure codes (Y-codes) for imaging and X-ray services will be eliminated and replaced with standard CPT/HCPCS codes to comply with HIPAA. Claims submitted with Y-codes for services on or after April 1, 2004 will be rejected.
Action Required
By April 1, 2004: Billing team must update billing system to replace all listed Y-codes with appropriate CPT procedure codes for imaging and X-ray services. Update encounter forms and billing software to prevent submission of Y-codes for dates of service on or after April 1, 2004. Contact Bureau of Comprehensive Health Services at 217-782-5565 for guidance on CPT code mappings. Claims with Y-codes after this date will be rejected.
