Summary
Illinois Department of Public Aid implemented a new Non-Emergency Transportation Services Prior Approval Program (NETSPAP) administered by First Transit, Inc. for 17 specified counties. Effective February 1, 2004, all non-emergency medical transportation in these counties requires prior approval from First Transit, with specific processes for standing orders that only medical providers can arrange.
Action Required
By February 1, 2004: Medical providers in the specified Illinois counties must obtain prior approval from First Transit (877-725-0569) for all non-emergency transportation. Only medical providers can arrange standing orders for renal dialysis, behavioral health, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and physical therapy by faxing completed Standing Order Request forms to (312) 327-3855 at least two business days prior to trips. Update staff procedures to ensure compliance as claims without proper authorization may be denied.
