Summary
The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services updated the Medicaid and SeniorCare Preferred Drug List, limiting coverage without prior authorization to lowest net cost therapies of comparable medical efficacy. Drugs not on the preferred list will require prior authorization for coverage.

Immediately: Billing team must review the updated Preferred Drug List at http://www.dpaillinois.com/pharmacy/ and update billing procedures to obtain prior authorization for non-preferred drugs. Submit prior authorization requests by calling 800-252-8942 or faxing 217-524-7264. Claims for non-preferred drugs without prior authorization will be denied.
