Illinois KidCare is implementing a new presumptive eligibility program starting May 3, 2004, allowing providers to serve uninsured children under 19 with temporary coverage notices instead of MediPlan cards. Providers can apply for coverage on the same day as service and will be reimbursed at regular medical assistance rates without co-payment deductions.

By May 3, 2004: Staff must learn to verify eligibility using MEDI Internet site, REV vendor, or AVRS (1-800-842-1461) before providing services. Front desk should assist families with Form 2378 KC applications and fax to 217-785-1647 if not enrolled as KidCare Application Agents. Billing team must not assess co-payments during temporary coverage periods and verify coverage may start/stop mid-month.
