Summary
Illinois Medicaid will now reimburse nursing facilities for bed reserves during hospitalizations for up to 10 days, provided the facility maintains at least 93% occupancy with 90% Medicaid-eligible residents. This policy is effective for bed reserves beginning August 1, 2004 or later.
Action Required
Facilities must resubmit bed reserve claims that began August 1, 2004 or later using Form DPA 2234 with appropriate codes if occupancy requirements are met. Update handbook by removing pages 41/42, 43/44, 84/85, 86, 253/254, 255/256, 257/258, 259/260, and 260(a) and replace with attached pages.
