Summary
Illinois Medicaid will now cover two additional renal dialysis injectable drugs: Aranesp (Q4054) effective March 1, 2004, and Iron Sucrose/Venofer (J1756) effective January 1, 2003. Providers must verify current reimbursement rates from the Physician Fee Schedule on the department's website.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must verify current reimbursement rates for Q4054 (Aranesp) and J1756 (Iron Sucrose) from Illinois Medicaid's Physician Fee Schedule at dpaillinois.com. Update billing system to include these covered injectable drug codes for renal dialysis patients. Replace Hospital Handbook Appendix H-18 page with December 2004 version.
