Summary
Beginning August 1, 2005, providers must submit specific modifiers when billing Speech (GN), Occupational (GO), or Physical Therapy (GP) services. Additionally, modifier U6 must be used with codes 97110 and 92507 for therapy services within 60 days of hospital discharge.
Action Required
By August 1, 2005: Billing team must update system to require modifiers GN (Speech Therapy), GO (Occupational Therapy), and GP (Physical Therapy) for all therapy services. Add modifier U6 to codes 97110 and 92507 when billing therapy services within 60 days of hospital discharge. Resubmit previously rejected claims using appropriate modifiers - void D01 rejected claims and resubmit with modifiers, resubmit C03 rejected claims with modifiers.
