Summary
Starting September 1, 2005, wound care dressing supplies must be billed through the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) claims processing system instead of the pharmacy system. Claims submitted through pharmacy systems will be rejected for dates of service September 1, 2005 and after.
Action Required
By September 1, 2005: Billing team must switch all wound care dressing supply claims from pharmacy billing system to DME claims processing system. Update billing software to route wound care dressings through DME system. For dual-eligible beneficiaries, ensure Medicare is billed first before submitting to the department. Claims submitted through pharmacy system will be rejected.
