Summary
Illinois Healthcare and Family Services reminds providers they must check the sanctions list to ensure employees, contractors, and service providers are not terminated, suspended, or barred from the Illinois Medical Assistance Program. Claims submitted for services provided by sanctioned individuals or entities will be denied and payments may be recovered.
Action Required
Immediately: All staff must check the Illinois HFS sanctions list at http://wwwqa.illinois.gov/hfs/oig/Pages/SanctionsList.aspx before hiring any employee or contractor and periodically thereafter. Billing team must verify no current staff are on the sanctions list. Contact HFS OIG at HFS.OIGWebmaster@illinois.gov for eligibility confirmation if needed. Failure to comply may result in claim denials, payment recovery, and potential program termination.
