Summary
Illinois launched a new Veterans Care program and expanded All Kids coverage, both requiring co-payments for certain services. Providers must collect co-payments from participants, but the state will automatically deduct co-payment amounts from provider reimbursements.
Action Required
Immediately: Update billing workflows to collect co-payments from Veterans Care and All Kids Premium Level 2-8 participants for physician, chiropractor, podiatrist, optometrist, nurse practitioner visits, and hospital encounters. Use MEDI or REV eligibility verification systems to determine correct co-payment amounts - do not use AVRS for co-pay amounts. Bill usual and customary charges without reporting co-payment on claims. Update Chapter 100 Handbook appendices 11-15 with new pages dated July-September 2006.
