Summary
Illinois All Kids program (Medicaid/KidCare for children) now allows providers to use free vaccines through the VFC Plus Program. Providers bill only for vaccine administration using CPT codes, not for the vaccine itself, as vaccines are provided free through VFC.
Action Required
Providers serving All Kids (Illinois Medicaid) children should: 1) Enroll in VFC Program (call 1-800-526-4372 or 312-746-6358 for Chicago) to receive free vaccines, 2) Bill only CPT codes for vaccine administration to HFS, not for vaccine supply, 3) Include specific vaccination CPT codes on encounter billing forms for accurate immunization records. Enrollment strongly recommended as it will be required for Illinois Health Connect participation by 2007.
