Summary
The Illinois Vaccines For Children (VFC) Program has added new vaccines including Rotavirus, MMRV, and HPV (Gardasil) to their free vaccine program. Providers enrolled in VFC can receive free vaccines but must bill only for administration services, not the vaccine products themselves.
Action Required
For Illinois providers: Enroll in VFC Program by calling 1-800-526-4372 (or 312-746-6358 for Chicago) to receive free vaccines including new Rotavirus, MMRV, and HPV vaccines. Update billing procedures to bill only for vaccine administration through HFS, not for vaccine products. For non-VFC enrolled OB/GYN providers: Full reimbursement available for Gardasil vaccinations for patients ages 9-20. Report specific CPT codes on encounter forms for managed care enrollees to maintain accurate immunization records.
