Summary
Illinois Medicaid has clarified the process for submitting late ancillary claims to correct charges on previously paid institutional claims. Late charges must use Frequency Digit 5 in the MEDI IEC system, while overcharge corrections must still be submitted on paper UB-92 forms until new frequency digits are implemented.
Action Required
Illinois institutional providers (hospitals, hospice agencies, renal dialysis facilities, ASTCs) must use Frequency Digit 5 in Type of Bill (Form Locator 4) when submitting late charge corrections through the MEDI IEC system. For overcharge corrections, continue using paper UB-92 forms with 'O' indicator in Form Locator 56P until Frequency Digits 7 and 8 are implemented.
