Summary
Illinois expanded its Sexual Assault Emergency Treatment Program effective January 1, 2008, allowing survivors to receive follow-up care from any community provider for 90 days (previously limited to 2 ER visits within 6 weeks). Providers use a special voucher system and must bill on paper forms to a dedicated address.

For Illinois providers only: If treating sexual assault survivors with HFS 3870 vouchers, verify eligibility by calling 217-782-3303, bill usual charges on paper forms (cannot bill electronically), and mail claims with voucher copy to Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services Sexual Assault Program, P.O. Box 19129, Springfield, IL 62794-9129. Services must be provided at no charge to the patient.
