Summary
Prior approval is now required for all non-emergency transportation services for long-term care facility residents when billing through Healthcare and Family Services (HFS). Claims must include the First Transit request tracking number as the prior approval number or they will be rejected with error code X73.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must obtain prior approval from First Transit (1-866-503-9040) before providing non-emergency transportation for long-term care residents. Enter the First Transit request tracking number in the prior approval field on all claims. Claims without valid prior approval numbers will reject with X73 error code.
