Summary
Starting July 1, 2008, all drivers and employee attendants for medicar and service car providers transporting Medical Assistance program participants must complete department-approved safety training certification every three years. Providers must maintain certification documentation and failure to produce it will result in recovery of all payments made for services by non-certified staff.
Action Required
Before July 1, 2008: Medicar and service car providers must enroll drivers and employee attendants in approved safety training programs (MedicarSafety, Southern Illinois University, or First Transit). Maintain certification documentation for all staff. Recertify every three years. Contact training programs for schedules and costs. Failure to maintain documentation will result in payment recovery by the department.
