Summary
Illinois Healthcare and Family Services has introduced two new eligibility messages in their electronic systems: 'HFS Social Services' for temporary coverage of mental health services, and 'DHS Social Services' for enrollment with Illinois Department of Human Services programs that are billed directly to DHS instead of HFS.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must update eligibility verification procedures to check for the two new eligibility messages on MEDI Internet site and REV system. When 'HFS Social Services' message appears, limit billing to community mental health services, physician psychiatric services, hospital inpatient psychiatric services, transportation for these services, and limited formulary pharmacy services.
