Summary
Effective April 1, 2009, hospitals can no longer use Occurrence Codes 53 (Mother's Discharge Date) and 58 (Level II or Level III Perinatal) for newborn billing. Claims grouping to DRG 391 will be paid at zero, while other valid DRGs continue to receive per diem rates.

Any remaining claims with admission dates through March 31, 2009 must be submitted on UB-04 paper format.
