Summary
The prior approval requirement has been removed for all expensive drugs and devices (EDD) effective January 1, 2009. New 'C' codes have been added for pacemakers, cardioverter-defibrillators, neurostimulators, and skin replacement procedures.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must download the updated EDD Listing from the Illinois HFS website at hfs.illinois.gov/reimbursement/. Update billing system to remove prior authorization requirements for all EDD codes with dates of service on or after January 1, 2009. Register for email notifications at hfs.illinois.gov/provrel/ to receive future EDD listing updates automatically.
