Summary
Starting October 1, 2009, Illinois Medicaid will cover psychiatric services (CPT codes 90801-90899, excluding group psychotherapy) when rendered by Advanced Practice Nurses with proper certification. APNs must submit Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing certification by January 1, 2010, or claims will be rejected with error code G98.
Action Required
By January 1, 2010: APNs providing psychiatric services must submit Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing certification and HFS 3411C form to Illinois Healthcare and Family Services Provider Participation Unit (P.O. Box 19114, Springfield, IL 62794-9114). Ensure APNs maintain current collaborative practice agreements. Without certification on file, psychiatric service claims will reject with error code G98.
