Summary
Ostomy supply products must now be billed through the DME claims processing system using HCPCS codes instead of through the pharmacy system using NDC codes. Providers can resubmit previously rejected ostomy supply claims through the DME system with extended filing deadlines through September 1, 2010.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must stop submitting ostomy supply claims through pharmacy system using NDC codes. Switch to DME claims processing system using appropriate HCPCS codes. Resubmit any ostomy supply claims rejected since June 1, 2009 through DME system. For claims past 12-month filing requirement, submit paper claim forms with time override request letter to Bureau of Comprehensive Health Services by September 1, 2010.
