Summary
Effective January 1, 2011, renal dialysis providers must transition to Medicare's new bundled payment system that includes dialysis treatment, injectable drugs, and lab services in a single base rate. Providers must submit their CMS rate letters to receive updated payment rates and cannot bill services from January 1st onward until their new rates are processed.
Action Required
Before billing any dates of service January 1, 2011 or later: Dialysis facilities must provide their CMS rate letter identifying the new bundled payment base rate to Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services at PO Box 19114, Springfield, IL 62794-9114 or fax 217-557-8800. Include facility HFS legacy provider number and NPI. Wait for updated Provider Information Sheet before billing. Any claims billed before rate update must be voided and rebilled by the provider.
