Summary
The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services is implementing NCPDP Version D.0 for electronic pharmacy transactions, allowing both Version 5.1 and D.0 formats through December 31, 2011. However, specific transmission types (C1, C2, C3, N1, N2, N3, and P1) will not be supported in Version D.0.
Action Required
By December 31, 2011: Pharmacy billing staff must transition from NCPDP Version 5.1 to Version D.0 electronic transactions. Download and implement the Version D.0 Companion Guide and Payer Sheets from the HIPAA 5010 Companion Guide. Ensure billing systems do not use unsupported transmission types C1, C2, C3, N1, N2, N3, and P1 for Version D.0.
