Summary
Social Security Administration approved a cost of living adjustment (COLA) for SSA benefits effective January 2012, which will automatically update patient credit amounts in the long term care billing system. The Department will centrally process these changes, and providers should hold any patient credit change requests from December 12-16, 2011 during the automated update period.
Action Required
December 12-16, 2011: Hold all patient credit amount changes for long term care residents to allow completion of central budgeting process. After December 16, 2011: Resume reporting income changes to DHS FCRC in usual manner. Contact Bureau of Long Term Care at 217-524-7245 with questions.
