Before December 17, 2012: For all psychiatric emergency admissions, billing team and hospital staff must check patient eligibility through the MEDI system immediately upon patient presentation. If patient is in a 60-day treatment span, contact the applicable Targeted Case Management entity using the telephone number provided in MEDI before contacting the Quality Improvement Organization. Update admission workflows to include MEDI verification as first step for psychiatric crisis cases.
