Summary
Therapy prior approval requests cannot cross fiscal years and must be submitted on separate service lines when spanning from FY 2013 to FY 2014. Providers must include both department-assigned provider numbers and NPI numbers on all prior approval requests.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must ensure all therapy prior approval requests for FY 2013 have end dates no later than June 30, 2013. For services spanning into FY 2014 (July 1, 2013 and later), submit on separate service lines using form HFS 1409. Include both department-assigned provider number and NPI on all prior approval submissions to avoid processing delays.
