Summary
Long Term Care facilities must transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10 diagnosis codes effective October 1, 2014. Facilities must obtain ICD-10 codes from physicians and enter them into the Medicaid Electronic Data Interchange system between July 1-September 30, 2014 for existing residents.
Action Required
By September 30, 2014: Long Term Care facilities must obtain ICD-10 codes from physicians for all active residents and enter them through the MEDI system. For new admissions starting October 1, 2014: Submit ICD-10 codes as part of regular admission transactions using MEDI or REV systems. Contact Bureau of Long Term Care at 217-782-0545 with questions.
