Summary

The Illinois Integrated Care Program (ICP) has expanded to include Chicago seniors and persons with disabilities on Medicaid. Providers must now determine if patients are enrolled in MCOs/MCCNs (requiring direct billing to managed care plans) or CCEs (continuing to bill the state) by checking electronic eligibility systems.

Action Required

Action needed
Immediately: Billing team must check Department electronic eligibility systems (REV, AVRS, or MEDI) for all Chicago Medicaid patients age 19+ to determine enrollment status. For MCO/MCCN enrollees, bill the managed care plan directly and follow their prior authorization requirements. For CCE enrollees, continue billing the state as usual. Front desk staff must verify eligibility at every visit to ensure proper billing destination. Providers should join managed care networks to ensure timely payment.
