Healthcare facilities must complete the federally-mandated conversion from ICD-9 to ICD-10 diagnostic codes by October 1, 2015. This reminder notice provides specific instructions for updating existing resident records and submitting new admissions during the transition period.
Action Required
By October 1, 2015: Long-term care facilities must obtain ICD-10 codes from physicians/clinicians and update all existing resident ICD-9 codes to ICD-10 codes using the MEDI system. For new admissions from July 1 - September 30, 2015, enter both ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes. For admissions on/after October 1, 2015, only ICD-10 codes are required. Facilities using EDI vendors must register with MEDI for this one-time conversion.
