Summary
BCBS Arizona has established a new policy classifying all nonpneumatic compression devices (including Venowave and Koya Dayspring devices) as experimental/investigational for all indications including lymphedema, venous insufficiency, and wound healing. These devices will not be covered under DME benefits.
Action Required
By October 21, 2025: Billing team must update BCBS Arizona coverage policies to reflect that nonpneumatic compression devices are not covered. Stop submitting claims for these devices to BCBS Arizona as they will be denied as experimental/investigational. Notify providers that patients will need alternative treatment options or self-pay for nonpneumatic compression devices.
