Claims Processing for New and Revalidating Providers
Illinois Medicaid - HFS·IL·Provider Notice
Effective date
Jun 23, 2016
We identified it
Jun 20, 2026
Summary
New and revalidating Medicaid providers must wait up to two weeks after IMPACT enrollment approval before they can submit claims, as provider data needs to transfer from IMPACT to the legacy MMIS system first. New providers get 180 days from data transfer date to meet timely filing deadlines, and all providers should verify their Provider Information Sheet for accuracy.
Action Required
Immediately: New Medicaid providers must wait for Provider Information Sheet (PIS) to be mailed to Pay To address before submitting claims - do not use IMPACT enrollment email for billing. Billing team should track the up to 2-week transfer period from IMPACT to MMIS and note that new providers have 180 days from data transfer date (not enrollment date) for timely filing. Revalidating providers should verify correct 'Doing Business As' name when billing through billing providers.
