Summary
Illinois Medicaid will begin fee-for-service reimbursement for Licensed Clinical Psychologists (LCPs) and Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs) starting January 1, 2017. This applies to individual practitioners outside of Community Mental Health Centers, FQHCs, or RHCs, with billing instructions and fee schedules to be published in January 2017.
Action Required
By January 2017: Billing team should review published LCP/LCSW fee schedule and billing instructions when available. Ensure LCPs and LCSWs practicing individually (not in Community Mental Health Centers, FQHCs, or RHCs) are properly enrolled for Illinois Medicaid billing. Update billing system to process fee-for-service claims for psychological testing, neuropsychological testing, diagnostic evaluation, and psychotherapy services. Note that self-administered cognitive tests and biofeedback therapy remain non-reimbursable.
