Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas has updated the CPCP030 Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Examination Policy, which contains new clinical payment and coding guidelines for ultrasound procedures performed at the point of care. The revised policy becomes effective January 7, 2025.

By January 7, 2025: All staff must review the updated CPCP030 Point-of-Care Ultrasound policy on the BCBSTX provider website under Standards and Requirements > Clinical Payment and Coding Policies. Billing team should verify eligibility and benefits before rendering POCUS services to confirm coverage for each member.
