Summary
The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services is temporarily extending Drug Prior Approval Hotline hours until 6:45 PM from March 27th through April 7th, 2017, to support the new Pharmacy Benefit Management System implementation. This provides additional access for providers and pharmacies to resolve prior authorization issues during the transition period.

No immediate action required for billing team. Be aware that extended hotline hours (until 6:45 PM) are available from March 27-April 7, 2017 for drug prior authorization assistance at 800-252-8942. Continue using existing prior auth processes via phone, fax (217-524-7264), or the new PBMS Provider Portal.
