Summary
Effective May 1, 2017, Molina Healthcare will no longer be a Medicaid managed care option in six Central Illinois counties, with members transitioning to fee-for-service Medicaid. Providers must verify each patient's enrollment status in MEDI on the date of service to determine proper billing procedures.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must check MEDI system for every Medicaid patient on date of service to verify managed care enrollment vs fee-for-service status. Update workflow to bill HFS directly for fee-for-service patients using their Healthcare and Family Services medical card instead of Molina. Train front desk staff to refer disenrolled patients to Illinois Health Connect helpline at 877-912-1999 for provider assistance.
