Summary
The Crisis and Referral Entry Service (CARES) is transitioning to a new Integrated Eligibility System (IES) from October 19-24, 2017, which will affect RIN creation for SASS program participants. During transition periods and after hours, CARES will issue temporary pre-created RINs with standardized names like 'HFS Social' that will be updated with actual demographic information during the next business day.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must postpone claim submission for any SASS-eligible participants who receive pre-created RINs until demographic information is updated in the system. Verify participant RINs have correct demographic details before submitting claims by checking Electronic Data Exchange vendors, REV system, AVRS, or MEDI system. Allow adequate processing time before contacting CARES or HFS with questions.
