Summary
Illinois is launching HealthChoice Illinois, a new Medicaid managed care program effective January 1, 2018, with seven approved health plans. All current Medicaid managed care clients will transition to new plans, and providers must establish contracts with the new health plans to continue serving Medicaid patients.
Action Required
By January 1, 2018: Billing team must establish contracts with HealthChoice Illinois approved health plans (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, CountyCare, Harmony Health Plan, IlliniCare Health Plan, Meridian Health, Molina Healthcare of Illinois, NextLevel Health). Contact health plans immediately if not already contacted to establish provider relationships. Update billing system with new plan information and verify patient eligibility under new plan assignments. Failure to contract with new plans will result in inability to serve transitioning Medicaid patients.
