Summary
Illinois Medicaid will now pay specialized mental health rehabilitation facilities 75% of their rate for therapeutic leaves of absence (up to 20 days per fiscal year, max 10 consecutive days) when approved by an interdisciplinary team. Facilities must use Revenue Code 0183 for payable therapeutic leaves instead of 0182.
Action Required
Before September 1, 2018: Billing teams at specialized mental health rehabilitation facilities must update billing procedures to use Revenue Code 0183 for interdisciplinary team-approved therapeutic leaves of absence and Revenue Code 0182 for non-therapeutic leaves. Continue using Occurrence Span Code 74 and Value Code 81 for all leave days. Retain interdisciplinary team approval documentation for HFS review. Consider holding claims with Revenue Code 0183 until pricing logic is implemented or plan to void and rebill after September 1, 2018.
