Summary
Effective July 1, 2018, Illinois Medicaid will cover diagnostic and preventative dental services for adults 21 years and older, including oral examination and prophylaxis once per year. This expands dental benefits that were previously not covered for adults in the Illinois Medicaid program.

By July 1, 2018: Billing teams serving Illinois Medicaid patients must update billing systems to include adult dental preventive services as covered benefits.
