Summary
Effective October 1, 2018, Illinois Medicaid (HFS) no longer allows multiple patients to be billed on the same HFS 2210 claim form for durable medical equipment and supplies. Each claim form must contain only one Recipient Identification Number and associated services. Claims with multiple patients will be returned for correction.
Action Required
By October 1, 2018: Billing team must update procedures to submit separate HFS 2210 claim forms for each Medicaid patient when billing durable medical equipment and supplies. Modify billing software to prevent multiple Recipient Identification Numbers on single claims. Update staff training on Illinois Medicaid DME billing requirements. Claims with multiple patients will be returned and require resubmission.
