Summary
Illinois Medicaid now allows payment for therapeutic leave of absence days at Specialized Mental Health Rehabilitation Facilities (SMHRFs) at 75% of the facility's Medicaid per diem rate. Programming is complete and providers should submit held claims or void and rebill previously submitted claims using specific revenue codes.
Action Required
Immediately: SMHRF billing teams must submit any held claims with Revenue Code 0183 for therapeutic leave of absence days. Void and rebill any previously submitted claims with Revenue Code 0183 using the standard void/rebill process. Use Revenue Code 0183 for payable therapeutic leaves, 0182 for non-payable patient convenience leaves, and 0185 for non-payable hospitalization leaves.
