Days to comply

Summary

Illinois Medicaid hospice agencies must now report service line dates on all hospice services and include Occurrence Code 55 (Date of Death) on claims with Service Intensity Add-on (SIA) charges. These changes help calculate proper Routine Home Care payment rates and identify eligible SIA payment days.

Action Required

Action needed
Before August 1, 2019: Hospice billing teams must update billing systems to require service line dates on all hospice services (Revenue Codes 0651, 0652, 0655, 0656, 0657, 0658, 055X, 056X) and include Occurrence Code 55 with Date of Death on all claims containing SIA charges. For consecutive service dates, combine days on one line; for non-consecutive dates, use separate service lines. Claims missing these requirements will have SIA charges ignored or generate error codes K19/K20.
