Summary
Illinois Medicaid has delayed new Attending Provider NPI requirements from October 1, 2019 to November 1, 2019. Starting November 1, 2019, claims on UB-04 or 837I formats will be rejected if the Attending Provider is not an enrolled individual.
Action Required
By November 1, 2019: Institutional providers (hospitals, renal dialysis facilities, ambulatory surgical centers, hospice agencies, birth centers) must ensure all Attending Provider NPIs on UB-04 and 837I claims belong to enrolled individual providers. Verify all attending providers are enrolled in Illinois Medicaid through the IMPACT webpage at 877-782-5565. Claims will be rejected if Attending Provider is not an individual or not enrolled.
