Illinois has implemented a new utilization review process allowing hospitals to submit concurrent review requests for patients with pending Medicaid applications (MANG Pended status). A temporary identification number system enables review submission before Medicaid approval, but billing authorization only activates once the application is approved and a RIN is issued.

Action Required

Action needed
By January 13, 2020: Illinois hospitals must participate in eQHealth provider training before using the new MANG Pended review process. Billing teams must learn to use the new eQSuite feature to generate temporary identification numbers (TN) for pending Medicaid patients, then update approved cases with RIN numbers to activate Treatment Authorization Numbers (TAN) for billing. Contact Bureau of Hospital and Provider Services at 877-782-5565 for billing questions on approved MANG Pended patients.
