Summary
Illinois Medicaid now covers COVID-19 laboratory testing using new HCPCS code U0002, effective February 4, 2020. Claims will be held until reimbursement rates are established, but there are no patient copayments for these laboratory services.

Immediately: Begin using HCPCS code U0002 for non-CDC COVID-19 laboratory testing for Illinois Medicaid patients. Note that claims will be placed on hold until reimbursement rates are assigned.
