Illinois is launching the IM+CANS Provider Portal on July 1, 2020, requiring all behavioral health providers who use the Illinois Medicaid Comprehensive Assessment of Needs and Strengths to begin entering assessment data through direct entry or batch import. This creates a mandatory new reporting requirement for mental health assessments.

By July 1, 2020: Behavioral health providers must register for the IM+CANS Provider Portal and begin entering all IM+CANS assessment data via direct entry or batch import. Download the IM+CANS Batch Import Guide and Standardized File Format from the HFS website. Update workflow to ensure all required assessments are entered into the portal.
