Summary

Illinois Medicaid will now cover Long Term Acute Care Hospital (LTAC) services for non-citizens ineligible for Medicaid due to immigration status during the COVID-19 public health emergency. LTACs must apply for emergency medical coverage if the transferring hospital hasn't already done so, and should hold fee-for-service claims until system programming is complete.

Action Required

Action needed
Immediately for Illinois LTACs: Apply for emergency medical coverage for non-citizen patients if transferring hospital has not already done so. Hold all fee-for-service claims for this patient population until system programming bypasses eQHealth Solutions utilization review requirements. Submit claims to HRSA COVID-19 Claims Reimbursement Portal when patient income is too high for emergency medical coverage.
