Summary
The Illinois Medicare-Medicaid Alignment Initiative (MMAI) is expanding statewide on July 1, 2021, combining Medicare Parts A, B, D and Medicaid benefits into single health plans. Providers are strongly encouraged to contract with MMAI plan networks to ensure continuity of care and timely payment for dual-eligible beneficiaries.
Action Required
By July 1, 2021: Contact MMAI plan representatives to join their networks for dual-eligible patient coverage. Billing team must verify patient enrollment in MMAI plans and update billing systems to recognize new integrated Medicare-Medicaid plans.
